The market for seeds and other propagation material is one of the most dynamic. The breeding and development of new varieties, together with associated activities, is one of the most promising areas of technology for the future. The combination of conventional selection methods with new biotechnologies for the development of new materials for sustainable agriculture and the production of higher quality products adapted to the new demands of society are and will be areas of continuous expansion in both the private and public sectors over the coming decades.
This master's degree is part of the Doctoral Programme in Biotechnology, honoured with the Mention of Quality (MCD-2006-00536) and the Mention of Excellence for Doctoral Programmes (MEE2011-0326), awarded by the Ministry of Education.
The fundamental objective of this proposal is to train professionals capable of planning, supervising and executing real plant breeding programmes.
To this end, they must be able to integrate knowledge from different disciplines and use the most appropriate tools and technologies for the development of new varieties.
Students may request recognition of subjects on the basis of previous qualifications and professional experience.
Applications will be assessed on the basis of the applicant’s academic, professional and research curriculum.
