Introduction

Society's growing awareness of the degradation of the environment and the need to mitigate the impacts of pollution has brought about a new professional role, that of environmental engineer, who ensures that the development of society combines industrial competitiveness with a sustainable and respectful approach to the environment. The need to respond to these new challenges has led to the global consolidation of Environmental Engineering courses like this degree programme.

This master's degree is associated with the PhD in Water and Environmental Engineering, awarded a Quality Mention by the Ministry of Education (MCD2006-00408).

Objectives

The responsibilities of the environmental engineer include the analysis, prevention and correction of environmental damage, environmental protection and the improvement of environmental quality. These professionals must deal with problems such as unsustainable resource consumption, waste generation, water, air and soil pollution, and prevent human activity, industry in particular, from affecting environmental quality.
