Introduction

Given current circumstances, there is a demand by industries and companies for ever more highly qualified professionals. The Master's Degree in Industrial Constructions and Installations provides instruction for professionals and researchers specialized in both the field of industrial construction and industrial activities that affect other constructions.

The current situation also coincides with a number of major changes on an industrial, technical and regulatory level. This not only presents a challenge but also an opportunity, with the opening up to emerging markets.

These changes include the publication and updating of the technical building code, the growing awareness of sustainable aspects of building, adaptation to European regulations on energy saving and efficiency in both new construction and rehabilitation, new wiring regulations, greater demands on the behaviour of structures in the event of earthquake and fire.

As a result technicians, even those who have industry experience, will have to update their knowledge.

This master's degree provides an ideal framework for them to bring themselves up to scratch.

Moreover, the current trend towards eliminating specific professional attributes from a degree opens up new opportunities for graduates who have not received specific training in this area, but who will be able to pursue this career if they prove to have the necessary knowledge. The degree programme also offers training for this purpose.

This master's degree therefore enables graduates to:

  • Acquire specialized and advanced knowledge of the subjects covered.
  • Improve and enhance their employment status in companies.
  • Enter the labour market on more favourable terms.
  • Gain added value over other professional technicians..

Given its status as an official degree, it then qualifies graduates to study the PhD in Industrial Engineering and Production, entitling them to a doctoral degree in engineering.

For these reasons, the Master's Degree in Industrial Constructions and Installations is a good choice for high-quality specialized training for technicians wishing to further their career in the field of construction and installations. This is borne out by the high number of graduates employed in the sector.

The theory and practical classes for most of the subjects are taught from Monday to Thursday from 15:00 to 21:15.

Some of the subjects that are taught with the equivalent Construction and Installations modules on the Industrial Engineering degree may have some practical classes in the morning.

Objectives

The general objectives of the programme include:

  • Impart knowledge of industrial constructions and installations to Industry and Architecture graduates.
  • Instruct a wide range of professionals in the application of the techniques and procedures of industrial constructions and installations by integrating disciplines from industrial construction planning.
  • Strengthen research in the field of industrial constructions and installations.
  • Provide professionals from the industrial constructions and installations sector with lifelong learning options by offering them an attractive product, constantly evolving and adapting to the training demands of the moment.

Upon completion of studies, students will be capable of the following:

  • Develop research projects in the field of industrial constructions and installations.
  • Conceive, design, develop and draft advanced building and industrial development projects.
  • Teamwork in engineering and construction firms and related companies.
  • Manage, execute, implement and legalize building and industrial development works.
  • Analyse and simulate structural, building and facility systems.
  • Budget, assess, optimize and improve the efficiency of building and industrial development systems.
  • Operate, maintain and manage buildings and industrial facilities.
  • Carry out renovation, rehabilitation and repair of buildings and industrial facilities.
  • Develop environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions for buildings and industrial facilities.
