University departments

University departments are the basic units of teaching and research at the University. They group related areas of knowledge and develop both teaching and research activities.

University research institutes

University research institutes are highly valued centres devoted to either artistic, technical and/or scientific research. They are regulated by the local Government according to the constitutional law on universities (LOU).

They can either be only UPV-regulated -comprising UPV staff- or joint research institutes -created in co-operation with other private or public organisations by means of a signed agreement.

The research structures under the UPV label encompass all those centres that work in research, development and innovation, and try to respond to the demands - of both the University and the social environment - for technological and artistic products. They fall into three categories: UPV's own (unshared) research centres, joint and associated research centres, and inter-university research centres.

Joint Research Units (UIC)

The Units of Conjoint Investigation (UIC) are timely alliances between the Research Structures of the Universitat Politècnica de València and other entities in a specific scientific, technological or socioeconomic field, which are set up in order to increase R&D+i capacity and to share resources. They are also known as 'mixed' or 'partnership' units.
