The Master's Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) meets the needs of higher university training in the field of occupational risk prevention. The aim is to respond to the requirements established by the Law on Occupational Risk Prevention, which marked a turning point in the legal and regulatory provisions on health and safety at work, and affected all companies in all productive sectors. On the other hand, this law defined a professional area that until that point had been almost non-existent in Spain, in whose higher education the university had not assumed the leading role it should have. With this new master's degree, postgraduate studies are configured within the framework of the new European Higher Education Area from a multidisciplinary approach, but with a clear technical vocation.
The fundamental objective is the university training of prevention technicians qualified to carry out the higher level functions described in Royal Decree 39/1997, of 17 January, with the quality guarantees that correspond to the exercise of any profession for which a university degree is required. The following can be highlighted as partial objectives:
A number of places will be reserved for professionals who have the accreditation granted by the labour authority and who wish to pursue these university studies.
