Information for accepted exchange students (pre-arrival) Encontrar alojamiento, consejos y sugerencias  ...

UPV does not provide housing for exchange students. However, it is relatively easy to find housing any time of the year in any of our 3 campuses (Valencia, Gandia and Alcoy).

Our Mentor students and student associations like ESN Valencia UPV (Erasmus Student Network) can provide assistance and orientation.

VALENCIA CAMPUS

Accommodation in a shared flat (apartment)

These are generally apartments with 2 to 4 rooms, with common areas. The price per room is between €300 and €400 depending on the area and the characteristics of the apartment.

The most popular neighborhoods among students are in the north-east neighborhoods of the city, near the UPV campus: Avenida de Blasco Ibáñez, Plaza Xúquer, Cabañal / Cañamelar, Benimaclet, l’Amistat, Ayora or Ciutat Jardí.

We suggest you do not limit your search exclusively to these neighborhoods. The UPV campus is well connected to other parts of the city by metro/tram, local EMT buses, as well as by a dense network of bike lanes.

The longest journey by EMT public bus from the neighborhoods on the opposite side of the city (north-west or south-west city districts) will take a maximum of 35-40 minutes. The journey will be faster if you use the metro/tram system or if you cycle.

Accommodation in a university residence: Residencia Universitaria or Colegio Mayor

A University Residence is like a student hotel, neutral in the type of people it hosts, and generally flexible in schedules and visits

A "Colegio mayor" usually has an education project for residents in social, cultural, sports, or religious values. The rules on schedules or access to visitors in a colegio mayor are usually more rigid than those of a university residence.

If you prefer to live in a student residence, it is important to book well in advance, several months before the start of the semester. Some Residences and Colegio Mayor prefer students for the entire academic year rather than for one semester. This depends on how full the student residence is.

The price is between €700 and €1000/month, depending on the type of room (double, single, mini apartment), and the services included in the fee (only room and cleaning or also some meals).

The Galileo Galilei University Residence is located inside the UPV campus but it is run by a private company, not by UPV. You will find the complete list of Residences and Halls of Residence on this website: Residencias y colegios mayores | UPV - Universitat Politècnica de València

GANDIA CAMPUS - Higher Polytechnic School of Gandia (EPSG)

Gandia is divided into two large areas, the Harbour/Waterfront Area (Grao de Gandia - Playa de Gandía) and the city center. Both parts of the city are connected by residential neighbourhoods and bus lines.

There are two train stations in Gandia, served by line C1 of the suburban trains (RENFE Cercanías):

  • Train station "Gandía": near the old city center and further away from the UPV campus and the beach area.
  • Train station "Playa y Grao de Gandía / Platja i Grau de Gandia": near the harbour and 10-15 mins. on foot from the UPV campus

Some trains of the suburban rail line C1 are bound directly for the beach train / harbour train station, while others arrive at the main train station, next to the old city center.

There is a shuttle bus between the RENFE train station in the city center of Gandia (station named "Gandia") and the UPV campus.

The shuttle is for free for UPV students under 30 years of age enrolled on the Gandía campus; the bus does not operate in the summer months of June, July or August, when there are no classes.
